Former Ottawa Senators Head Coach Paul MacLean received interest from a number of NHL clubs since being fired. The Anaheim Ducks asked the Senators if they may have permission to speak to their former bench boss and offered MacLean a job.
Paul MacLean decided to join the Ducks coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2015-16 NHL season. MacLean is taking the spot of former assistant coach Brad Lauer, who fired in June.
MacLean is very familiar with Anaheim and it’ll be his second go around with the team. He was part of the Ducks organization for two seasons from 2002-2004. He was an assistant coach under Mike Babcock. He left Anaheim with Mike to serve as his assistant in Detroit. MacLean stayed assistant coach in Detroit until he joined Ottawa in 2011. During the 2012-2013 lockout shortened season, MacLean won the Jack Adams Award as the league's best coach. He finished the season with a 25-17-6 record.
