Many hockey fans across the world are familiar with the iconic Mighty Ducks logo. It all started with the 1992 hit film, “The Mighty Ducks” created by Walt Disney Pictures. The film was based on a hockey team of misfit kids fighting the odds to win it all. The film went on to become a franchise and produced three classic hockey movies. The first “Mighty Ducks” film was created to help market the team that was being introduced by Disney in the 1993 NHL season. Disney used the film as “market research” and announced on March 1st, 1993 that the NHL franchise in Anaheim would be called the Mighty Ducks. The team stayed with the Mighty Ducks name and logo until Disney sold the franchise in 2005 to Henry and Susan Samueli. The new owners and former General Manager Brian Burke, changed the name of the team to the Anaheim Ducks before the 2006–07 season and replaced the Mighty Ducks logo.
In 2010, the Ducks created a third jersey that placed a re-colored Mighty Ducks logo on each shoulder. In July 2014, the third jersey was made as the Ducks' primary home jersey, alongside a white one in the same style for away. Ducks fans loved the historic logo being brought back into the franchise.
In the summer of 2015, the Anaheim Ducks announced that they would be introducing a new third jersey to the collection. The Ducks decided they weren’t showing fans the jersey until October 16th, when they welcomed the Colorado Avalanche to the Honda Centre. Many fans and media speculated the return of the Mighty Ducks logo, but no confirmation was made until September 7th when the International NHL Store leaked the jerseys for purchase. The jerseys were taken down and weren’t officially announced until the game on October 16th.

The announcement was made as the Ducks players skated out on the ice against Colorado, and wore their new third jerseys. The new revamped Mighty Ducks logo looked similar to the crest on the shoulders of the home/away jerseys. The main color of the jersey is orange much like the Stadium Series jerseys from last season. This move by the Ducks will help the organization promote the team theme “Paint it Orange”. The Ducks slogan is used to help interact with fans locally and nationally during the playoffs and the season. The team is going the Orange direction because of Henry and Susan Samueli wanted to emphasize their Orange County roots. Fans asked for a return of the Mighty Ducks logo and the team responded with the new third jersey.
