The National Hockey League have made a huge announcement in September and it appears that changes will be made to its team jerseys in a deal that may pave the way for advertising on team uniforms.

It appears that Adidas has won a long-term deal to make uniforms for the 30 NHL teams, beginning in the 2017-18 season. (same year for expansion) Adidas takes over the jerseys from the sports brand, Reebok.

Adidas beat out rivals Under Armour and Bauer Hockey for the NHL jersey contract. The report states that Adidas will pay the league double from its previous per season fees. The number is in the range of $70 million per year.
