On September 15, Simon Gagne, who scored 601 points and won the Stanley Cup with the LA Kings, announced his retirement from the NHL. Gagne played 14 NHL season in his career.

Gagne was the 22nd pick in the 1998 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers and played 691 games with the organization.

He helped the Flyers to the Eastern Conference Final in 2000 and 2004 and to the Stanley Cup Final in 2010.

Gagne was also apart of gold medal team Canada at Salt Lake City in 2002.

Outside of playing for the Flyers and Kings, Simon Gagne also played for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins. where he concluded his career with 23 games last season. He finished with 291 goals.

Gagne didn’t play in 2013-14 and attended the Bruins camp for the 2014-15 season. He made the Bruins out of training camp last season and had three goals, but played his final game for the Bruins Dec. 6. Gagne left the Bruins to be with his ailing father and after his death decided not to play the rest of the season.

"I have so many good memories with the Flyers, it's tough to remember all of them," Gagne said, "but definitely the playoffs in 2010, the way things happened, breaking my foot, coming back in Game 4 and scoring the OT goal and then after that slowly coming back in that series … it was a team effort."
