Free Agent Forward Curtis Glencross has announced he is retiring from the NHL. The news came today that he will not be returning to hockey, "We have weighed our options and with the young family I'm enjoying a lot of firsts with them." Glencross told TSN. He recently attended Toronto and Colorado’s training camps on Professional Tryouts but wasn’t able to land a roster spot. He thought another chance would happen in the NHL but no other teams have inquired about his services. He felt that with his young family and the chance he has to spend with them, it wasn’t right to move to Europe and play in the KHL.
Glencross was undrafted and never became a full time NHL player until the age of 25.He played in 507 NHL games for Anaheim, Columbus, Edmonton, Calgary and Washington. The 32-year old scored 134 goals, adding 141 assists for a career total of 275 points.
The decision surprised many because Glencross is still thought to be a productive NHL player. Last season he totaled 35 points for Calgary and Washington.
